What is Art Therapy was my first question. I never heard of this type of therapy, but the idea to heal through painting, drawing, or modelling was something I wanted to explore, and I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to this form of therapy with Louise,
I have done five sessions with Louise, and for my first session I was little bit nervous and excited at the same time. I haven’t painted or drawn for over 20 years, so this was an unexplored path for me. Deep down in me dwells a creative child, which was too shy. With gentle guidance and positive approach that child resurfaced in session with Louise.
I quickly found out to expect the unexpected. I had no plan or expectations, I worked on letting go of my perfectionism, and to allow for true feelings and emotions resurface, purge, and heal. I saw possibilities and signs, which I was clouded to see and experience. Blockages naturally evolved, and I released a suitcase of hurt of unanticipated events and feelings.
I so glad and grateful for the opportunity, the whole experience was immensely enjoyable and freeing. Louise provided a non-judging environment, in which I felt accepted, understood, and cared for. I came out more confident and clear about my goals, I found out about my ’JOYful’ state of being, kind and forgiving of my own inner-critic, and forgiving of mistakes of others. The key to the therapy was seeing alternate realities, which gave me insight of my own limited conditioning.
In addition, my husband had profound experience in Louise’s group therapy sessions, where he came out with unexpected insights about himself. For that, I am also grateful.
Without hesitation, I recommend to all self-explorers to try out this type of therapy.
